The Foxton Year 3 Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar Study and Practice Book complements the Foxton Year 4 SPaG Study and Practice Book and is divided into helpful sections:
1. Sound Spelling – A section dedicated to reviewing and practising sound patterns taught in Years 1 and 2.
2. Wonderful Words – This looks at more sound patterns, word types and families, word endings and beginnings, word origins and homophones, spellings and more.
3. Strong Sentences – This section helps your child use a variety of words to make interesting sentences using different sentence types, clauses, conjunctions, prepositions and more.
4. Tidy Text – Here we take a look at how to write in a logical, appealing way using paragraphs, titles, subheadings and the
right tenses.
5. Powerful Punctuation – This section gives your child the tools to punctuate their writing accurately, enabling the reader to precisely interpret their words.
Throughout the book, key Year 3 spellings (words in blue) are used along with vocabulary taken from the Year 3 National Curriculum for Geography, History and Science to teach and practise the skills for Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation.
Self-assessment quizzes after each part in the book remind students to look back at what they have learned and check their understanding. The answer section allows students to check their accuracy in the practice exercises and celebrate their success with helpers along the way.
