Rudolf Rassendyll is a lazy young man. He is the cousin to a Prince he has never met. He is going to start work in six months but six months is a long time to do nothing.
He goes to visit his cousin, King Rudolf of Ruritania, to see him being crowned. When he gets to Ruritania, Rudolf finds he shares more with his cousin than a name. The two men look the same.
The Prince’s brother is plotting against him and Rudolf Rassendyll finds himself caught in a dangerous battle for the throne. Rudolf pretends be the king as the real Prince is held as the prisoner of Zenda.
